Hi everbody!
further to the announcement of 28th April 2023, we are pleased to announce a major update to our DATAGerry CMDB system that will significantly improve the handling of data integrations and communication across our platform. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve system performance, scalability and usability, we are moving from the current way of providing data via exportD based on a rabbitMQ service to an integration with OpenCelium via a webhook technology.
What’s Changing?
We are replacing the existing exportD service with OpenCelium, an integration platform that enables seamless communication between applications via APIs. OpenCelium will allow us to deliver data flexibly and in real time via webhooks, improving data flow and integration capabilities across our ecosystem.
Why are we making this change?
This update is part of our commitment to providing a more efficient, scalable, and modern architecture for our CMDB system. OpenCelium’s webhook technology offers several advantages over the traditional exportD service, including:
- Real-Time Data Transfer : Webhooks provide instant notification of events, meaning data is transmitted immediately as it becomes available.
- Simplified Integrations : OpenCelium allows us to easily connect and integrate with third-party applications and services over their APIs, without the need for complex configurations.
- Scalability and Flexibility : OpenCelium scales automatically to accommodate increased data volume, helping us stay agile as our platform grows.
- Reduced Maintenance Overhead : The shift to a managed integration platform reduces the complexity of maintaining our own messaging infrastructure, freeing up resources for other initiatives.
- Improved Reliability : OpenCelium provides robust error handling and monitoring, ensuring that no important data is lost.
What Does This Mean for You?
-
Service Change : The current exportD service that provides data will be replaced with webhooks provided by OpenCelium. This change will enable faster, more efficient data delivery and smoother integrations with other systems.
-
Integration Update : Teams and applications that rely on exportD for receiving data will need to update their processes to handle webhooks via OpenCelium instead. Documentation and migration guides will be provided to assist with the transition.
-
Minimized Disruption : We are carefully planning the transition to ensure minimal disruption to your workflow. While there may be short periods of adjustment, we will communicate any downtime or changes well in advance.
When Will This Change be Made?
The change is expected to be made for the next release cycle (approx. in February/March).
If you have any questions or need assistance with the changeover, please contact the DATAGerry support team or send us feedback under this post. Our team will be happy to help you with any questions or concerns.
