New entry unable to enter Main IP address field

to create a new server entry… how do you input on the Main IP field.
I received this error:
your input does not match the set regex pattern: [0-255].[0-255].[0-255].[0-255]

Hello @tbdo88
I have 2 possible options regex:

  • ((?:25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|1[0-9][0-9]|[1-9]?[0-9]).){3}(?:25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|1[0-9][0-9]|[1-9]?[0-9]))+
  • ((25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|1[0-9][0-9]|[1-9]?[0-9]).){3}(25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|1[0-9][0-9]|[1-9]?[0-9]))+

if You want wrote in one line more then 1 ip separated by a space use ((| ) before regex.
it should be like this:

  • ((| )((?:25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|1[0-9][0-9]|[1-9]?[0-9]).){3}(?:25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|1[0-9][0-9]|[1-9]?[0-9]))+
  • ((| )((25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|1[0-9][0-9]|[1-9]?[0-9]).){3}(25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|1[0-9][0-9]|[1-9]?[0-9]))+

Hello @tbdo88 ,
welcome to the community.
As you can see from marcinw’s post, the reason is that your regex is valid, but not matching.
First of all: Is the IP field for IPv4 (I assume this because of the structure), IPv6 or both?

For IPv4 you can do something like:
((25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?)(\.|$)){4}

IPv6 is a bit more complicated
(([0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:){7,7}[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}|([0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:){1,7}:|([0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:){1,6}:[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}|([0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:){1,5}(:[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}){1,2}|([0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:){1,4}(:[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}){1,3}|([0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:){1,3}(:[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}){1,4}|([0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:){1,2}(:[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}){1,5}|[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:((:[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}){1,6})|:((:[0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}){1,7}|:)|fe80:(:[0-9a-fA-F]{0,4}){0,4}%[0-9a-zA-Z]{1,}|::(ffff(:0{1,4}){0,1}:){0,1}((25[0-5]|(2[0-4]|1{0,1}[0-9]){0,1}[0-9])\.){3,3}(25[0-5]|(2[0-4]|1{0,1}[0-9]){0,1}[0-9])|([0-9a-fA-F]{1,4}:){1,4}:((25[0-5]|(2[0-4]|1{0,1}[0-9]){0,1}[0-9])\.){3,3}(25[0-5]|(2[0-4]|1{0,1}[0-9]){0,1}[0-9]))

I hope this could help you.
If you want, I could explain in more detail why your regex doesn’t work, if that helps you in the future.
But from experience I can say that Regex is always a bit of trial and error.
