# Password field - field functionality

Hello,  
Today i looked at the “password” field.

When i create or edit this field in object i can use this button ![image](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/flex013/uploads/datagerry/original/1X/fdb782a463d6d5092e9a43c8c3747f4f1726a62a.png) and it randomly add some new password. It is great.

But i should to have possibility customize create random password, as example in terms of :

1. quantity of characters
2. password mask - like special characters i want to use in create random password and which exactly; great and litlle leters; numbers

I also checked created object with “password” field from the database side and i saw that the value of “password” field is not hiding/hashing. I see password which I wrote in object.

Is should be that?
